Your Community Credit Union was founded in 1957 -- as Seymour Johnson Federal Credit Union -- to serve the financial needs of the military and civilian personnel located at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. Responding to requests from private industry and other organizations, the credit union opened its doors to more than 75 of these area groups during the '80s and '90s.

Your Community Credit Union operates under a federal charter and accounts are insured to $250,000 by NCUA, a government agency. Recognizing an even broader need to provide an alternative to traditional banking, the credit union converted to a community charter in 2002 and changed its name to reflect the broader community it now serves -- Wayne County.
